About Cody

I was born in Elkins to Lanny & Kim Thompson and grew up on the Sully Road near Alpena. I graduated from Harman High School in 2005. I also graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Social Studies Education in 2011 and a Masters Degree in Multi-Categorical Special Education from West Virginia University in 2018.
I taught school with Randolph County Schools from 2012 until 2022. I taught for two years at Harman School, and the rest of my time was at Elkins High School where I taught US Civics and Contemporary Studies. I am very passionate about public education and have been a major supporter both in the Capitol and locally.
Currently I work for Diversified Assessment and Therapy Services.
I enjoy spending time my family and my pets as much as possible. I absolutely love being outside hiking, camping, snowboarding, and kayaking and taking in the beauty of the Mountain State. I take a special interest in learning and reading about local and state history (something I inherited from my Grandpa Shifflett.) I have been truly honored and humbled to represent the folks of Randolph and Pocahontas Counties in Charleston, and look forward to representing the 67th District which includes portions of Randolph and Pendleton. Please feel free to always reach out to me with any concerns you may have.
